SCA Equipment Checkout Requirements
All SCA Equipment is only available to students with a valid Production Number. Production Numbers are assigned to students by class section. MA+P students who need to checkout equipment will be assigned a Production Number.
All SCA Equipment is handled separately from MA+P Inventory. A different reservation system is in place for both. View information on available.
Production Numbers are assigned by course and are usually set up near the beginning of each semester. Your faculty member will help orient you through the process. Each student must complete several forms, all are available on:

- USC/SAG Agreement Rights and Responsibilities
- SCA Intellectual Property & Copyright Policy
- Production Insurance Agreement
- Additional forms may be required based on the content of the project
All students are also required to attend a mandatory Safety Seminar. Students will be required to present their USC ID when attending. Available dates will be shared with courses requiring Production Numbers.
Production Numbers will only be considered valid if ALL previous steps have been completed.
Locations and Hours
There are three offices through which you can reserve equipment: the Camera Room, the Lighting Room and the Sound Equipment Center. All are located in SCX in the Cinematic Arts complex on the first and second floors.
When you enter SCX, you should see an elevator on your right. Take it to the second floor. The Camera Room is to the immediate right of the elevator on the second floor. Reservation forms are located on the desk directly opposite from the elevator doors.
The Camera Room is open from 8:30am - 6:00pm Monday through Friday. Consult thefor the most up-to-date hours.
The Lighting Room is located on the first floor of SCX. You must approach SCX from 35th St. It is the set of open garage doors usually with several carts full of equipment lined up outside. Enter the garage doors to find the checkout desk.
The Lighting Room is open from 8:30am - 6:00pm Monday through Thursday and 8:30am - 5:00pm on Fridays. Consult thefor the most up-to-date hours.
Sound Equipment Center
When you enter SCX, you should see an elevator on your right. Take it to the second floor. Follow the hallway down to the Sound Equipment Center in SCX 201. You will pass the Camera Room on your way to the Sound Equipment Center. Checkout forms are at the counter in the Sound Equipment Center.
The Sound Equipment Center is open from 10:00am - 5:30pm Monday through Friday. Consult thefor the most up-to-date hours.
Reservations, Pickups and Returns
All reservations, pickups and returns are handled in their respective departments. Each checkout desk requires reservations up to 48 hours in advance. All reservations are completed on paper forms available at each department. Reservations will only be accepted with a valid Production Number.
Pickups and Returns
All pickups and returns must occur at the agreed upon times (listed on the reservation forms). All pickups and returns must occur at each respective checkout desk. Equipment must be returned to the appopriate checkout desk. Cameras go back to the Camera Room. Sound kits go back to the Sound Equipment Center. Lights go back to the Lighting Room.
Upon picking up a reservation, test out the equipment immediately on the available counters. Ensure that the equipment you walk out with is in working order and that it is the equipment you need.
Inventory for MA+P classes is preselected. MA+P students only have access to the following equipment:
