Aroussiak Gabrielian’s “Posthuman Habitats” Exhibited at Cinque Mostre

As a speculative design project, Posthuman Habitats, in Aroussiak’s words, “responds to the future city’s impending food and water scarcity, dwindling green space in the face of hyper-densification, stresses on energy and water infrastructure, and the nomadic existence that characterizes our age of migration.” She continues, “As a wearable landscape system, it explores the blurred distinctions between nature-culture, human-machine, and celebrates hybrid ecologies and synthetic forms of nature that are representative of our technologically mediated experience.”

For the exhibition, this iteration of the project involved working with a local tailor, an indoor grower, and the Rome Sustainable Food Project (an Alice Waters creation that provides the daily nourishment for all of the Rome Prize winners) 재미있는 게임 다운로드. Some of the garments were worn for a choreographed performance during the opening, while others were placed on mannequins, and the Rome Sustainable Food Project harvested the crops to make some unusual finger foods for guests Download 9 flavors of love. Aroussiak is currently completing her dissertation project, which explores the intersection of expanded cinematic media and new ways or reading and visualizing the landscape 페인트샵 프로 다운로드.

micha cárdenas publishes “Monstrous Children of Pregnant Androids” in GLQ

The issue “offers a range of responses to the murders of forty-nine people—and the injuring of many more—that took place in the early morning hours of June 12, 2016, at Pulse, a queer nightclub in Orlando, Florida” (Alley 1) 데몬 프론트 다운로드. Jason Alley, editor of the issue, writes, “while acts of violence—everyday and spectacular—have long histories in queer and trans communities (threatening trans and queer people of color with double, triple, quadruple forms of jeopardy), one guiding question for this collection of contributions revolves around what is at stake in responding to and unpacking violent and publicly mediated events after the fact, after the events have faded from public consciousness yet when their aftereffects still haunt many of us” (1) 리눅스 우분투 다운로드.

Perry Hoberman at Postmasters Gallery

Now sparsely populated, Deserts Heights was mostly developed through the Small Tract Act of 1938 Pokémon Sun & Moon. The homesteading law granted WWI, and later WWII, veterans a five-acre parcel of land if they built a house and lived there for at least three years. Most are long since abandoned, littering the desert landscape with neglected shacks and their strewn contents, collected and 3D scanned by Hoberman Get the encounter.

Suspensions is made up of a selection of these items: a rusted can, plastic melted by the sun, a wind deteriorated teddy bear, a deflated basketball, corroded car parts, a weathered tea kettle 동영상 클립 다운로드. Objects once attached to a particular locale, its inhabitants, and their personal histories, are discrete and decontextualized, hanging from ceiling-suspended chains, each one tied to the next with clothesline or bungee cords, along with two-sided vertical hanging prints that freeze-frame the objects into icons of themselves Download asmack. Alternate reality versions of the constructions occupy the same Cartesian coordinates as their counterparts, but remain invisible until experienced via head-mounted displays (HMDs) flash games. Each component of the installation is literally and figuratively suspended – between gravity and weightlessness, but also balanced between their history as artifacts and physical presence as objects coco dataset.

These overlapping physical and digital realities, further augmented by a virtual reality app developed by the artist, combine to make up a (hopelessly) mixed reality, the condition that we find ourselves in almost everywhere now 포토샵 이전 버전 다운로드. But as much as our world is being ‘dematerialized’ by virtual technologies, it can be simultaneously rematerialized by making explicit the connections of these technologies to the actual world of lived experience apache http server 다운로드.

Following decades of speculation and research, hype and burst bubbles, the medium of virtual reality has finally begun to reach critical mass 천행기 다운로드. This is a field that Hoberman has been deeply involved in for several decades; many of the foundations of the current VR resurgence can be traced back to labs where he was a leading research contributor 사상 최악의 참사 다운로드. Suspensions brings together his cumulative research to build on notions of entropy and time forayed by Robert Smithson in projects like Hotel Palenque, and offers the understanding that virtual reality can be a tool and conduit through which we can access (and shift between) multiple layers of reality.

Perry Hoberman is a media artist, educator, inventor and musician. He works with a wide variety of new and old technologies, ranging from the utterly obsolete to the state-of-the-art. Hoberman has exhibited internationally, with major shows throughout the USA and Europe, and has been the recipient of many awards and honors, including Guggenheim and Rockefeller Fellowships, as well as prizes from Prix Ars Electronic and the ICC Biennale. He has taught and lectured widely, with appointments at Cooper Union, San Francisco Art Institute, California Institute of the Arts, School of Visual Arts, and is currently an Associate Research Professor in the Division of Media Arts + Practice at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.
